Smaller than a standard marker pen, MAUS Stixx PRO is fitted inside the small, closed compartments where electrical fires start — consumer units, distribution boards, fuse boxes, server and comms cabinets, machinery housings, caravan and boat lockers — and extinguishes a fire inside them within seconds.
It is a self-contained automatic fire suppression unit. No power supply, no wiring and no maintenance are required.
How it works
A heat-detecting cable runs the length of the unit. When it is exposed to flame, or when the unit reaches its activation threshold of 170 °C ±10 °C, the unit discharges in five seconds or less and completely floods the compartment with a patented potassium-based agent. The agent absorbs heat and interrupts the chemical chain reaction of the fire, extinguishing it at source before it can spread beyond the enclosure.
The agent is non-toxic and environmentally friendly, and leaves no residue to clean up afterwards.

Important installation notes
- Stixx PRO is designed for closed compartments only. It will not work as intended in open or ventilated spaces, because the agent cannot reach and hold the concentration needed to suppress the fire.
- Leave clear space at the discharge ports so the agent can be released without obstruction. MAUS specify a minimum of 3 cm; we recommend 5 cm where the enclosure allows.
- The unit protects a volume of up to 0.1 m³ (approximately H100 × W50 × D20 cm). Larger enclosures require a higher-capacity unit from the Stixx PRO range.
- Operating temperature range is −30 °C to +70 °C.
- Service life is 5 years from installation (6-year shelf life). Replace the unit at the end of its service life and after any activation.
- Stixx PRO is a supplementary fire protection device. It does not replace fire detection, alarm or extinguishing systems required by law or by your fire risk assessment.
Installation in third-party property
MAUS require installer certification to fit Stixx PRO units in any property other than your own. If you are installing on behalf of a customer, landlord or employer, certification must be held before the unit is fitted.

Can I fit a fire suppression device inside a consumer unit?
Yes, provided the compartment is enclosed and no larger than 0.1 m³, with at least 3 cm of clear space at the discharge ports.
Do I need certification to install one?
In your own property, no. In any third-party property — a customer's, a tenant's or an employer's — MAUS require the installer to hold certification. Core Fire provides certified installation across the UK.
Does it work in a ventilated enclosure?
No. Ventilation prevents the agent from reaching and holding the concentration needed to suppress the fire. Enclosed compartments only.
Does it leave residue or damage the equipment?
No. The patented potassium-based agent is non-toxic, environmentally friendly and residue-free.
Does it replace my alarm or extinguisher system?
No. Stixx PRO is supplementary protection. It does not discharge any duty imposed by law or by your fire risk assessment. Pair it with fire detection and fire extinguishers appropriate to the premises.
What size enclosure does it cover?
